Siliguri: On 27.07.21 at around 11 AM, two bike-borne persons snatched the handbag of a pedestrian named Sujata Goutam, near Kadamtala on Asian Highway 2.
The purse contained two mobile phones, credit cards, and other personal items. A specific case was registered over the incident at Matigara Police Station.
The police immediately responded, and traced the two accused after checking CCTV footage of the camera installed at the Chat Hat Medical More checkpoint. One of the suspects has been identified as Md. Faruk. His associate is a CCL (child in conflict with the law).
All the stolen articles have been recovered and the motorcycle used in the crime has been seized.
Md. Faruk has since been presented before the Ld. Court and is in judicial custody.
As per provisions of the law, the juvenile was produced before the Ld. Principal Magistrate who directed his counseling and rehabilitation process.
Investigating officer PSI Rantu Halder, along with officers of the Matigara police station, has done an excellent job in solving the case within 72 hours.
The stolen recovered articles will be handed over to the complainant after necessary legal formalities, at the earliest.
