Siliguri: On 31.07.2021 afternoon, the Bhaktinagar Police busted an illegal friendship call center that was being run in the guise of a private office named M/s I Krab E- Sol Pvt Ltd. It is located on the third floor of the GOLDEN ENCLAVE Apartment at Isckon Mandir Road under Bhaktinagar Police Station. During the raid, the police team recovered a huge number of SIM cards, laptops, and computers, which were duly seized. Meghashree Sarkar (29) and Pappu Ghosh (32), who was running the illegal friendship club call center, have been arrested and taken into custody.
The accused, along with their accomplices, were engaged in cheating gullible customers by engaging them in adult chats and messages. Raids are being conducted to arrest the other persons who are involved in this racket. Both the accused will be presented before the Ld Court tomorrow, on charges of impersonation, cheating, and other relevant sections of the Information Technology Act. Necessary follow-up actions are being taken.
