Siliguri: On 03.08.21, the Detective Department of Siliguri Police Commissionerate launched a drive against the sale of illegal online single-digit lottery under different areas of SPC.
During the drive the police busted three illegal single-digit lottery shops at Jalpai More, Jyotirmoy Colony, and Sitalapara and arrested four persons namely Sanjay Mittal, Chanchal Adhikary, Manik Das, and
Md Makbul was running the illegal online lottery shops for their wrongful gain.
Five sets of Computer machines with printers and scanners, paper rolls, internet dongle, and Cash amounting to some thousand rupees have been seized.
Similarly, officers and men of Bhaktinagar Police Station also conducted a raid at an illegal online single-digit lottery shop at Iskon Mandir Road and arrested one Saddam Hossain, who was running the illegal business for his wrongful gain. Some computer machines, printers, etc. have been seized.
Four separate cases under the relevant sections of the West Bengal Gambling and Prize Competition Act have been registered at Siliguri Police Station, NJP Police Station, and Bhaktinagar Police Station, against the arrested accused persons and their associates.
All the arrested accused persons will be provided before the Ld Court tomorrow. Necessary follow-up actions are being taken.
