Rachakonda: In view of the recent series of chain snatchings reported under Medipally Police Station, cases were filed at Medipally Police Station and Uppal Police station. Following this CP Rachakonda formed special teams consisting of CCS LB Nagar, IT Cell, and Medipally Police, and these special teams have made their sincere efforts and within days after the offenses, finally apprehended the accused with the technical clues collected with a continuous hunt by analyzing huge data of CCTV footages. The IT team tracked several KMs in the city to get the clues that ultimately lead to the apprehension of the accused. On credible information on 06-08-2021 at 4 AM, the police apprehended the following four persons under suspicious circumstances. On questioning, they have revealed the information about the commission of 36 chain snatching cases and 2 vehicle thefts across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh for the last one and half years. They have committed offenses under the limits of Rachakonda Commissionerate of Telangana State and Tirupati Urban, Vijayawada, Nellore, Guntur of Andhra Pradesh.
The accused are Syed Basha alias Sayeed is a snatcher, Shaik Ayub is a Bike rider, Shaik Mohd Khaleed is a Cab Driver who brings the accused, Nagollu Shashidhar Reddy is an Aide, Patan Jaffer Khan is the Receiver.
On 06-05-2021 late evening within a short span of time the accused snatched away gold chains from women at two locations; Ashok Nagar and Shankar Nagar of Medipally Police Station and while the investigation was in progress, again on 26 07-2021 two more such chain snatchings from women have occurred under Madipally Police Station in a similar manner in same colonies. Immediately CP Rachakonda and other senior officers formed special teams with IT cell, CCS, and Medipally Crime staff to detect the cases.
The coordinated efforts of the IT team, CCS LB Nagar, and Medipally crime teams resulted in detecting the above cases and also 32 other chain snatching cases in Andhra Pradesh.
The Police seized the following property from the possession of the accused. Gold Ornaments weighing about 226 grams worth Rs. 10 lakhs, Net cash of Rs.1.70 lakhs, Toyota Etios Car worth Rs. 7 lakhs Total All Worth Rs.18.70 lakhs.
Under the direct supervision and leadership of Mr. Mahesh M Bhagwat, IPS, Commissioner of Police, and Mr. G Sudheer Babu, IPS Addl. Commissioner of Police Rachakonda, with the guidance of Mr. P. Yadagiri, DCP Crimes, the IT Cell team headed by Mr. M.Sridhar Reddy, Inspector and Mr. D.Sunil Kumar, SI along with their staff got absolute vital technical clues and helped Mr. P. Venkateshwaralu, Inspector CCS LB Nagar and Mr. Maqbool Jani, DI Medipally and their staff in nabbing the accused and recovering the property. CP Rachakonda appreciated Inspector, SI, and PCOs Mr. Y.Ramakrishna, Mr. M. Ganesh and Mr. S. Ganesh, and others of IT cell and officers and men of CCS LB Nagar & Medipally Crime team for early detection.
