Dindigul: On 13.08.2021 Dindigul District Superintendent of Police Mr. V.R. Srinivasan IPS issued orders to the special force that was formed to apprehend the accused and seize the banned tobacco products to take action. Following the order, the personnel of the special force on a tip-off that banned tobacco products were being smuggled on the Vedasandur National Highway involved in a vehicle check near Vittalnayakanpatti.
The personal stopped the vehicles that came that way and were conducting a search of the vehicles and a car a lorry was also stopped for making the search. A search of a lorry and a car revealed that it contained banned tobacco products and four people were arrested.
They have been handed over to the Vedasandur police station and are being investigated. Police also seized about 1000 kg of banned tobacco products lorry and car.
