Siliguri: Acting on a tip-off from a secret source, a police team assisted by the SOG, Siliguri Police Commissionerate, on 30.08.21 arrested a suspected drug trafficker named Thakur Sha alias Veer Sha (21), s/o Late Rameswar Sha of Airport Market More under Bagdogra police station.
The suspect was riding a black Pulsar motorcycle without a registration number. On search, two plastic packets were discovered that contained some brownish powder believed to be brown sugar. The man had concealed one packet in his pant pocket while he had hidden the other packet under the seat of the two-wheeler. Both the packets contained 70 grams of Brown Sugar.
An i-phone and a small weighing machine were also recovered from his possession. Upon further interrogation, the suspect confessed his plan was to sell the contraband to local youths.
A case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been started, and the accused has been presented before the Ld Court today, with a prayer for police remand, for further investigation.
