Rachakonda: Margdarshak’s virtual program for empowering women was conducted by the Rachakonda police commissionerate and RKSC women’s forum. On 18th September 2021 as part of the Margardarshak refreshing program, a session for 1.5 hours was conducted virtually on “Breaking the silence and how to overcome challenges with courage and confidence” under the guidance of Mr. Mahesh M Bhagwat IPS, CP Rachakonda & Chairman RKSC.
CP Rachakonda has interacted with all the Margadarshaks and briefed them on laws and how timely police intervention can help saving victims from being harassed. He shared few recent cases of sexual harassment at the workplace. He urged all women to be bold and seek timely help. He gave insight on IPC section 354 A, online harassment. Current WFH challenges, Quid Pro Quo, etc. He highlighted the key aspect that any problem should be addressed at an early stage and there should not be any delay in reporting crimes. He appealed to Margdarshaks to take lead in the society/organization they are associated with to create more awareness and help victims break the silence.
Women’s forum Jt. Secretary Latha Ramasubramanyam spoke about the important role Margadarshaks play who is the bridge between the victims and the police and the required skills that Margadarshaks should possess and how they can help the women and society as a whole. The responsibilities of a Margadarshaks were explained.
Dr. V. Deepa Nair, National Trainer for POSH Act, Women Rights Activist, and a Lawyer made the session very interesting through various live examples who have overcome the challenges in their lives in various fields including victims, sports, politics, arts, education, writers, NGOs, entertainment industry, etc. She explained how to gain confidence and reiterated on dream big, achieving success through perseverance, consistent hard work, and a positive attitude.
The Margadarshaks were completely engaged and interacted during the session and made it more interesting. Few margadarshaks have shared their personal experience on how they have overcome the challenges in their personal lives which was very encouraging.
CP Rachakonda has appreciated Dr. Deepa for an inspiring session packed with live examples. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Latha Ramasubramanyam – RKSC Women Forum Jt Secretary Specially thanked CP Rachakonda for constant supports and inspiration to women from all walks of life, Dr. V Deepa Nair, RKSC Chief Coordinator Ms. Muthyala Savithri. the entire team of Womens’ Forum and Margadarshaks. This forum will continue to bring many more fruitful programs in the days ahead with the joint efforts of RKSC and Rachakonda Police.
