Greater Chennai: The Greater Chennai Traffic Police has been taking various measures to enforce the traffic rules in Greater Chennai City especially to reduce drunken driving accidents and fatalities due to drunken driving.
A total of 11,077 drunken drive cases were detected and booked by Greater Chennai Traffic Police during the period from 01.08.2021 to 31.10.2021(3 months).
In connection with a road accident that occurred on 04.11.2021 at Santhome High Road, a case has been registered by the J2 Adyar Traffic investigation unit and the test conducted that the driver was not under the influence of alcohol during the accidents, as the level of alcohol was 20/100mg as per the medical report. He was produced before the court and released on bail.
However, in order to create deterrence among violators and improve the level of compliance with traffic rules the Officers and men of Greater Chennai Traffic Police are conducting frequent awareness campaigns and special checks to book the violators.
Complete compliance can be achieved only with the cooperation of the public. The Greater Chennai Traffic Police will continue the special drive and awareness campaigns to ensure motorists are driving the vehicles without consuming alcohol.
All motorists are requested to obey the traffic rules and extend their full co-operation to Greater Chennai Police in the mission to save precious human lives and achieve an accident-free city.
