CHENNAI, SEPTEMBER 8: One of the senior and popular police officers in the rank and file of police officers in Tamil Nadu, Mr. S. George, Indian Police Service, (IPS), has been posted as Chennai City Police Commissioner yesterday. Until recently the DGP rank officer Mr. S. George, IPS, was the Chairman of Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board. Mr. S. George, IPS, is a familiar face in Chennai. He has been the Police Commissioner (2012-15). He was transferred by the Election Commission during Lok Sabha elections of 2014, but returned to the same post soon after the polls. He was then transferred and posted as ADGP (Prisons) in October 2015. Mr. S. George, IPS, in his last tenure had introduced the policy of ‘Visible Policing’ and it yielded good results. The policy was well received and instilled lot of confidence in the public at large. ]]>
