Siliguri: “SAMMAN- ER-BARI” an initiative of Siliguri Metropolitan Police in association with Rotary Club of Uttarayon, Siliguri, being a project office cum informal club for Samman members under ‘The Samman Project’ was inaugurated today by Mr. Gaurav Sharma IPS, Commissioner of Police, Siliguri in presence of the President Rotary Club of Uttoryan Siliguri, President CUWS and Senior Samman members.
“Samman-er-Bari” is dedicated to the Samman Members of Siliguri Metropolitan Police jurisdiction.
Here, the Senior Citizens who are members of the Samman project can come and relax in a homely atmosphere, watch television, gossip, read books and enjoy the company of their friends.
A small infirmary has also been set up inside the building with basic medical facilities, where the Samman Members also do the basic checkups for blood pressure and blood sugar etc.
Today a good number of Nursing Homes and Diagnostic Centers have also come up with a proposal that provides discounts on the treatment of Samman members.
Any senior citizen aged above 60 years living alone or with their spouse, residing under the jurisdiction of Siliguri Metropolitan Police would be eligible to become a member of Samman.

Then a designated officer from the local police station will visit the house of the Senior Citizen to facilitate the process of registration.
