Greater Chennai: On the orders of Greater Chennai Police Commissioner, Mr. Shankar Jiwal, IPS, the police team registered 92 cases for possessing and selling Ganja in the last 7 days, and 147 accused were arrested. 114 kg 710-gram ganja worth about Rs.11,47,100/-, 7 two-wheelers, 2 light load vehicles, 3 cell phones, and cash Rs.15,530/- were recovered from them.
Chennai Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mr. Shankar Jiwal, IPS, has ordered the detention and arrest of traffickers and sellers of cannabis, gutka, and narcotics through “Drive against Drugs” in Chennai.
Following this, the police personal team led by the police investigators conducted 7-day surveillance from 03.12.2021 to 09.12.2021 and registered 92 cases, and arrested 147 criminals in connection with the smuggling and hoarding of cannabis. 114 kg 710 grams of cannabis worth Rs.11,47,100 / – was seized from them and 7 two-wheelers, 2 light vehicles, 3 mobile phones, and Rs.15,530 / – were seized for selling cannabis illegally.
The police team led by V-4 Rajamangalam Police Inspector arrested Madan Kumar (V / 21), Kolathur, who was selling cannabis illegally while patrolling near the vegetable market opposite Villivakkam Railway Station on the morning of 6.12.2021. 20.3 kg of cannabis was seized from him.
Also, the police team led by the Inspector of J-9 Durappakkam Police Station was on patrol duty on the 200-foot road in Durappakkam on the morning of 8.12.2021. 3 persons belonging to Tripura State were arrested with 21.4 kg of cannabis which was seized from them.
Chennai Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mr. Shankar Jival, IPS, has warned that the Chennai Metropolitan Police will continue to monitor the situation and take stern action against those found smuggling and selling cannabis and narcotics.
