Lucknow: Two people accused of firing on a car of Lok Sabha MP, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi have had their assassination attempt postponed three times due to a large crowd, Uttar Pradesh police have recorded their statements.
The MP’s car was shot at on his way back to Delhi from Meerut on Thursday, after which police arrested Sachin Sharma and Shubham.
According to the FIR, the accused did not give satisfactory answers to the police at first, but when investigators showed real evidence that the incident was captured on CCTV, Sachin apologized and explained what had happened.
“I wanted to be a big politician. I consider myself a true patriot. “I have found that Owaisi’s speeches are harmful to the country. Since then, I have developed animosity towards Asaduddin Owaisi,” Sachin told police in the FIR.
Owaisi told police that he had contacted the AIMIM Dasna chairman to track the tours. According to the FIR, he decided to attack the OIC during the campaign tour. After the decision, he contacted Shubham, a Saharanpur resident he had known for many years.
“After I called him, Shubham came to Ghaziabad and we met on January 28 near Wave City. Shubham was staying with his friend. We both decided to kill Owaisi and started waiting for the right time,” Sachin told police in the FIR.
Hours before the assassination attempt accused Asaduddin Owaisi shared a video of the speech on Facebook
On January 30, two people attended a public meeting organized by the Owaisi in Shahid Nagar, Ghaziabad, on the same day they wanted to implement their plan, but Tendulkar told police that it was canceled due to overcrowding. The two went to ‘Gola Kuan’ in Meerut on Thursday with the intention of shooting him. That didn’t work out as a large number of people came again.
They later moved to ‘Kithor’ but a similar situation prevailed due to overcrowding there. The FIR states that Owaisi knew that he was leaving for Delhi in his white color SUV and decided to attack without knowing when another opportunity would come.
“The moment his car slowed down near the Chargers Toll Plaza, Shubham and I decided to kill Owaisi and started firing on his car. Owaisi, who saw the shooting, leaned down in the car to defend himself. Then I opened fire on the underside of the car. Sachin Sharma told police that he was under the impression that Owaisi was dead, according to the FIR. Shubham said he did not know how many rounds he fired as they both ran in different directions.
Shubham told police that his gun was jammed and could not fire more than one round. According to the FIR, the two men told police they did not know how Owaisi was able to survive.
