New Delhi: Delhi Police Commissioner Mr. Rakesh Asthana has issued directions that disciplinary action will be taken against those policemen who make recommendations to the department for desired transfer or posting of police personnel using political or external influences.
The orders were issued by the Commissioner of Police on January 27 along with the procedures to be followed by the officers in connection with the violation of these orders.
“In 2012, the then Commissioner of Police issued a similar standing order. After that, the interference of politicians and other dignitaries in matters relating to the service ceased for some time. But it went on again and even the current police chief is getting frequent requests from outsiders, ”said a senior official.
According to the six-point guidelines given in the order, if any written request or recommendation regarding the transfer or posting of any police personnel is received by the police headquarters or any other office, “a copy of such letter shall be kept in the personal file of the police personnel. Delhi Police Commissioner Mr. Rakesh Asthana has directed that the copies of the recommendation be sent to the concerned disciplinary officer and the reporting officer for further investigation and disciplinary action.
