Rachakonda: Aiming at making the state drug-free, “the noble dream of Hon’ble Chief Minister Sri KCR”, Rachakonda CP Mr. Mahesh M Bhagwat IPS has been taking up several initiatives and organizing seminars and meetings at several places and interacting with the public and politicians. As a part of the agenda and follow-up of the Hon’ble CM’s review on “illegal supply and consumption of Narcotic Drugs”, an oath-taking seminar was organized at Rachakonda Police Commissionerate, Neredmet, and CP Mr. Mahesh M Bhagwat IPS have presided over the meeting. The seminar was attended by Excise Superintendents, Mayors/Deputy Mayors, Municipal Chair Persons/ Vice chairpersons, GHMC corporators of the Rachakonda area.
Addressing the gathered public representatives, CP Mr. Mahesh M Bhagwat IPS urged the participants to join the mission of eradicating drug abuse from their localities and declare them “Drug-Free Areas”. CP mentioned that Rachakonda Police is taking up all initiatives to curb consumption and illegal transportation of drugs in all forms.
Speaking to the gathering, CP has stated that doing drugs is considered a heinous act in society and opined that consumption of drugs could spoil the physical and psychological health which ultimately lead the youth and children to end up losing their future. CP stated that the state government considered drug abuse as a serious practice and directed the Police to take stern action. CP stated that Rachakonda Police are taking up all the initiatives to eradicate the consumption of all forms of recreational drugs from society and cited numerous instances of how Rachakonda Police apprehend the drug suppliers.
CP also stated that primarily Police treat people who are inclined towards drug consumption unfortunately as victims with generosity and provide them with required medical treatment and help them to restart their life. CP reminded that Rachakonda Police Commissionerate is taking up several initiatives and mentioned Naya Savera a drug de-addiction program that has also been launched to help victims to get over the habit of taking drugs. CP reiterated that consumers will be treated as victims but warned that any person who involves in drug illegal transportation or making people addicted to drug abuse will be considered as criminal and will have to face serious charges as per the “NDPS Act-1985”. CP advised the participants gathered at the seminar to inform the Police about the illegal transportation or consumption of drugs that come to their notice.
CP uttered the significance of installing community CCTVs in the colonies and motivated the participants to actively install CCTVs in their areas. CP also said that people can also install CCTVs individually in the premises of their houses which could assist Police in crime detection. “Considering the growth of Hyderabad and its population, it is essential to augment the CCTV installations in expanding areas and areas which are either left out or less covered, to ward off untoward incidents and to ensure the public safety and security especially with respect to women, children, elderly and as a measure of overall safety”, CP added. CP elaborated that numerous studies establish a clear direct correlation between CCTV surveillance and reduction in crime and thus a case to increase the CCTV network from a public safety viewpoint. All the attended public representatives have explained their views on drug abuse in their respective areas and expressed their willingness to install CCTVs to support the Police in fighting drug abuse. At the end of the program, an oath was given to all by DCP Crimes Mr. P. Yadagiri IPS to eradicate drugs from society.
DCP Malkajgiri Ms. Rakshitha K Murthy IPS., ACP Mr. SB Jawed, Mr. Sivakumar Addl DCP Malkajgiri, Mr. Arun Kumar Excise SP Malkajgiri, Mr. Ravinder Rao Excise SP Sarornagar, and other ACPs SHOS, Peerjadiguda Mayor Mr. Jakka Venkat Reddy, and others have also attended the seminar.
