Delhi: Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested three wanted and hardened members of the infamous ‘Lala Gang’. The gang, which has been operating in various parts of the city, has been involved in several thefts in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and is selling stolen money, police said.
The robbery came to light when the victim, Randeep Singh, lodged a complaint at the Nihal Vihar police station. On December 24, 2021, the police received a call regarding a theft near the Daler Mehndi Gurdwara in Delhi.
Police scanned several CCTV footage and found a robbery with an Isiko van. Last month, police received specific information that a vehicle had been spotted near Nangloi Najafgarh Road. Jagmohan Bittu, 49, of Delhi, who was driving the vehicle, was arrested. Bittu has been involved in several criminal cases in the past, police said. The police who later seized the vehicle also registered an FIR.
The accused, who was also arrested, told police during interrogation that he was part of a gang that carried out a robbery near the Daler Mehndi Gurdwara in Delhi. He revealed that he was given the van by other gang members. Bittu revealed that a man named ‘Lala’ had approached him and paid a commission for the theft. His job is to drive a vehicle loaded with stolen goods alone and take it to a pre-determined location, the gang will follow in a special vehicle behind him,
Police formed various teams and launched Operation ‘Send-Mar’. After a long chase and intense search operation, police on Wednesday cracked down on the infamous Lala gang and arrested its members.
The arrested accused told the police that the stolen items and electronic items were kept in a godown in Mundka. Police also seized four vehicles, stolen clothes, and other items stolen from the accused.
