Rachakonda: On credible information the sleuths of Special Operations Team. LB Nagar Zone, Rachakonda Commissionerate Team along with Ghatkesar police intercepted the TATA Safari vehicle at ORR Toll Plaza at Ghatkesar and apprehended two persons who are procuring and transporting the noxious banned tobacco products from Karnataka State to Warangal. A case was registered at Ghatkesar Police Station of Rachakonda Police Commissionerate.
The Police arrested Kota Srinivas(30), Barigalla Sathish(21) both of Warangal District. The Police seized the following property from the possession of the accused persons: Amber Tobacco-22 Bags, RR Tobacco-16 Bags, JK Tobacco-6 Bags, TATA Safari bearing registration No. AP-10-AN-1080, Mobile Phones-2 Nos., Net Cash Rs.7,200/-. All property is worth Rs.25,00,000/-.
The brief facts of the case are that, the accused person Kota Srinivas born and brought of Warangal, discontinued his studies in the year 2013, is running a business under the style as Jai Durga Cool Drinks situated Subedari, Hanumakonda, Warangal for a long time, simultaneously he started selling, supplying and was transporting banned noxious tobacco and tobacco products and eking a livelihood. He is indulging in illegal selling/transporting, storage, marketing of noxious Tobacco products contents in the name of various brands illegally to gain easy money. On observation, it was found that he had storage, and selling products like Amber Tobacco, RR Tobacco, JK Tobacco in pouches/sachets in the name of various products.
He is purchasing the noxious Tobacco material from Karnataka State from various vendors clandestinely and transporting banned noxious tobacco products such as Amber Tobacco, RR Tobacco, JK Tobacco and storing them in his house and delivering to known and needy customers to gain easy money.
Kota Srinivas was arrested several times in the past in similar cases. In the year 2016, he was firstly arrested by Subedari police of Warangal District in Cr. No. 348/2016. Later, he was arrested in Cr. Nos. 96/2018, 482/2018 for selling / storing of banned noxious tobacco products. In the year 2020, he was arrested by Khazipet police vide Cr. No. 19/2020 for transporting the banned noxious tobacco products. In the year 2020, again he was arrested by Sadasivpet police in Cr. No. 06/2020 for transporting banned noxious tobacco products from Karnataka to Subedari, Warangal.
Since the Government of Telangana State has banned the sale, manufacture, distribution, and storage of Gutka/Tobacco and all its variants. The accused has planned to earn easy money by way of procuring and supplying the banned Gutka/Tobacco products and noxious Gutka sachets containing Tobacco contents to the Organizer dealers at a cheap rate and deliver to Warangal, Telangana in and around neighboring states and other areas in high profits and gaining easy profits illegally and the accused violated the food safety and Standards Act 2006.
On 12.2.2022 at morning hours the SOT, LB Nagar Zone team along with local police intercepted TATA Safari vehicle bearing registration No. AP-10-AN-1080 at ORR Toll Plaza, Ghatkesar while they were transporting banned noxious tobacco products from Karnataka State and seized Amber Tobacco-22 bags (Each bag content 100 packets & Each packet content 25 pouches), RR Tobacco 16 bags (Each bag content 43 packets Each packet content 20 pouches), JK Tobacco-06 bags (Total content 800 pouches), TATA Safari vehicle Bearing registration No. AP 10-AN-1080, Net Cash Rs.7.200/- and Mobile phones-2 Nos. all worth Rs.25,00,000/- from their possession.
The above arrests were made under the direct supervision of Mr. Mahesh M Bhagwat, IPS., Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda, Mr. G. Sudheer Babu, IPS, Addl. Chandra Babu, Inspector of Police, Ghatkesar police station, Sub-Inspectors Mr. Mohd. Thakiudain, Mr. AA Raju, and staff of Special Operations Team, LB Nagar zone, Rachakonda.
