Mulugu: Telangana police have identified a dump of Maoist explosives in the Reserve Forest area of Medaram village in Thadwai zone of Mulugu district.
According to credible information, a team of police and CRPF personnel, along with a bomb disposal squad, inspected the forest area and found explosives hidden in a deep drum in the forests within the Thadwai forest range.
Police recovered 74 gelatin sticks, four detonators, a wire bundle and three plastic sheets from the drum. The case was registered after seizing ammunition.
There have been a number of incidents in which civilians and cattle have been killed in landmine blasts set up by the Maoists. In March 2019, a man named Soyam Pentayya of Mukunur Palm was killed in a landmine blast planted by the Maoists.
Police have warned people roaming the area to be vigilant and take precautions against falling victim to landmines set up by the Maoists.
