Siliguri: Helpline number on Siliguri Police’s web page saves man’s life in the middle of the night. Devarshi Kanango, a resident of Navagram in Siliguri, woke up with shortness of breath and severe chest pain in the middle of the night. He frantically called for an ambulance and searched for any other means to reach the hospital, all this while being on the verge of collapsing. When all attempts went in vain, as a last resort, he checked the web page of the Siliguri Police Commissionerate. Skeptical of whether anyone would respond, he still called on the given helpline number.
As soon as he dialed the number, Devarshi did get a response and he conveyed his condition. Acting promptly, the receiver informed the matter to the NJP police station OC Mr. Sameer Tamang. Within no time, a police van with Sub-Inspector Mr. Kamalesh Joardar and other police personnel reached Devarshi Kanango’s house. Devarshi was immediately taken to the Siliguri District Hospital.
Later the doctors informed that Devarshi was having problems due to high blood pressure and fall in sugar level. His condition was deteriorating at an alarming rate and had he not been brought to the hospital at the right time, Devarshi would have suffered a serious problem. After undergoing treatment, his health has now stabilized. Devarshi has thanked the police for their selfless and prompt action.
