Delhi: Delhi Police have arrested at least five members of a gang involved in theft and slaughter of cattle. The five accused were identified as Chand alias Arshad, Arkam, Naseem alias Ayan, Anas and Ahmed Gufran.
A Sub-Inspector was attacked with a knife during a scuffle between police and criminals. The gang abducted three cows from Shastri Park, Silampur and Gokalpuri on Sunday night and slaughtered them in the national capital, selling them for about Rs.20, 000 each, the accused told police.
In February, police received a call to the Anand Vihar police station and from the CBD ground near Mazar on March 15 that a cow had been stolen, after which the police registered a case under the relevant sections of the law.
Police have been informed that a gang of thugs may have entered the Shahdara district between April 10 and 11. Police set a trap at the designated spot and observed the Honda car moving at high speed. .
The suspects drove the Honda car at high speed as the police tried to stop the car, causing the police to chase the car for a long distance and stop the vehicle.
One of the suspects tried to open fire on a police team with a Country Made pistol and escaped. The team tried to overtake the accused, but one of them attacked a Sub-Inspector with a knife, causing a stab wound to his right arm. Following the clash, a police team arrested all the accused.
