Moradabad: Uttar Pradesh police on Sunday bid a final farewell to a dog who had served the department for more than 10 years with state honors. Vikan, a dog (Labrador) died on Sunday due to a long illness. It was born in 2011. On June 20, 2012, Vikan was posted as a sniper dog in the explosives unit of the Uttar Pradesh Police Dog Squad.
Senior police officers, including the Superintendent of Police (City), the Superintendent of Police (Traffic) and the Assistant Superintendent of Police and Circle Officer Civil Lines bid a final farewell to the dog with state honors.
Mr. Sagar Jain, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Moradabad, told the media, “We bid a final farewell with state honors to the dog who has served in the police department for over 10 years.”
Assistant Superintendent of Police Mr. Sagar Jain said the sniffer dog had assisted the sniper dog department in several important activities and had served in the dog squad for 10 years and 9 months, the Vikan dog died on Sunday morning due to a long illness.
