Hyderabad City: The CP held a meeting with pub, bar, drive in restaurant owners in the wake of the recent case of Mink and Pudding Pub and the finding of cocaine in its premises, frequent complaints being reported from public on sound pollution, parking congestion, misbehavior by drunken people coming out of bars and pubs and on reports of usage of drugs. Hyderabad City police Commissioner Mr.CV Anand held a meeting with the owners of pubs, Bar & restaurants, drive-in restaurants owners in the CP conference hall today. In his opening remarks CP briefly shared the internal reports, complaints received from the public on various pubs, bars in the city.
He informed them that “due to the efforts of the State Government, Hyderabad city has become an investors favorite as it fulfills all parameters of the investors from abroad and other parts of India, like excellent law and order, Women Safety, EODB and fast clearances and a good Night life. So we expect you to run business in a responsible manner and uphold the reputation of the city and state which is getting compromised by just a few of you who want to violate norms for petty gains and there. Please decrease the inconvenience to the residents.” He appealed.
Through a power point presentation Police Commissioner kept all the attendees informed about prevailing norms laid down in the city police act and appraised to conduct their businesses within the framework of the act and that police will henceforth restart the duty assigned to it by the Law.
They were also instructed not to allow under aged persons, and to restrict the sound levels. The managements were also asked to Install CCTVs with 30 days backup & dedicated team to monitor, sound proofing the premises, engaging valet drivers, frisking staff, customers etc.. The City police made it clear that stringent action will be initiated on erring managements who resort to illegal activities.
CP stressed that orders received beyond 11pm shouldn’t be accepted and close the establishment by 12am, and on Friday, Saturday an extra 1 hour exception is allowed with half an hour grace period to clean up and settle the accounts.
Customers can be politely notified by dimming the lights prior to 10 minutes of closing, a common practice in developed countries. The spirit of according permission to the star rated hotels (four star and above) to serve liquor for 24 hours is in view of its international travellers or delegates, but not for the general public. “Adhering to the priority laid down on Ease of doing business by the state government, we will soon facilitate an option online in our website through which you can apply for renewals and other licenses and there shall be minimum interaction and no harassment by the police “assured Mr.Anand.
“Let Hyderabad be known as the safest city in the world and not as a place where drugs are also easily available and let us work together “he said.
Addl. CP(Crimes & SIT), Mr. A.R.Srinivas; Jt.CP (Admin), Mr. Ramesh, DCPs of all zones and other police officers attended the meeting. Over 100 establishment owners were present.
