CHENNAI: The world’s oldest business is still on. A prostitution racket was busted by Chennai Police after they raided two prostitution dens in Egmore, Police. The prostitution racket was run by a woman and her son. Police arrested four of their associates. Gang leaders Sonalakshmi and her son Rajesh Reddy escaped apprehension, Police told policenewsplus. Fearing apprehension, Sonalakshmi, 64, and her son Rajesh Reddy, 20, on a pilgrimage to Sabarimala ran away. Investigators detained four women in two apartments that the pimps had taken on rent for Rs1 lakh per month each. Anti-vice squad officers of Chennai Police first raided an apartment near Rajarathinam Stadium on Marshalls Road in Egmore. The squad rescued two women, one 22 and the other two years older, hailing from Delhi and Pune and nabbed two pimps, Narendra Reddy, 23 and Ajith Kumar, 20, from Nellore in Andhra Pradesh. They pimps told investigators that they had been operating the brothel on Sonalakshmi’s behest and that Rajesh Reddy ran another brothel on Binny Road in Egmore. Police arrested the pimps Ajith Kumar Shah, 23, of Bihar, and Shatrughan Sinha, 21, of Delhi, from the Binny Road apartment and rescued two more women from there. Both were both from West Bengal.
