Siliguri: On 31.5.2022 residents of Porajhar area submitted a written complaint regarding their minor granddaughter who went missing from the house.
Acting promptly, the personnel of NJP Police Station launched an investigation and informed the other police stations under the Siliguri Metropolitan Police regarding the matter. On 2.6.2022 the team received a tip from Khalpara Out Post that the missing minor victim girl was spotted at Khalpara area with a lady.
A police team of NJP Police Station rushed to the Khalpara area and interrogated the said lady who identified herself as Mona Haldar D/O Gurudas Haldar of Kolabusty, Matigara Police Station, Darjeeling District. On being asked she stated that the minor girl was taken by three persons namely Chandan Sahani, Manoj Sahani and Lalu Yadav.
Acting on the input, the police apprehended Manoj Sahani S/O Lt. Satyen Sahani of Maharaj colony, Siliguri Police Station, Darjeeling District from Kholai Baktari area under Matigara Police Station and on the basis of his leading statement Lalu Yadav S/O Lt. Ram Sagar Yadav of Kholai Baktari, Matigara Police Station, Darjeeling District was nabbed from Tulsinagar area under Matigara Police Station.
The police interrogated the two and further proceeded to detain Chandan Sahani S/O Lt. Shankar Sahani of Maharaj colony, Ward No. 04, Siliguri Police Station, Darjeeling District.
The team then successfully rescued the victim girl from Kanchapatti area under Khalpara Out Post. It is suspected that the trio might have sold the minor victim girl to the nearby brothel for the purpose of sexual exploitation. Investigation is on.
