<![CDATA[The Chennai Police are on high alert at the Marina beach with both the Law and Order Police and Chennai Traffic Police making elaborate arrangements to help people celebrate kaanum pongal on Monday. The general public had to keep its celebration limited to a certain extent even as the Police denied them permission to enter the sea to take a dip. Police control rooms 100 were set up at several places along the marina beach to help the general public. The Police arranged for doctors and medicines to help treat patients who suffer headache, fever and vomit after coming to the beach. Police have been making announcements on the public address system for every ten minutes urging people to be careful with their belongings and not to get intimate with strangers. Apart from the beach thousands of people thronged at the MGR Samadhi, Anna Samadhi and former Chief Minister’s Jayalalithaa’s memorial. ]]>
