Siliguri: SI Mr. Jagadish Das, aged 51 is posted in Siliguri Court. He plays football every morning at Morning Star Veterans Football Club in Pradhan Nagar.
While being under the weather for the past few days, Mr. Jagadish Das decided to go for a stroll rather than participate in the game on 15.7.2022. It is during this stroll that he noticed that some people in police fatigues were preparing for some exercise in the ground. Mr. Jagadish got suspicious and tactfully started questioning them without disclosing his identity. Being very sure that it is a scam; Mr. Jagadish sought help of local club members who tactfully restrained the fake police personnel while help arrived from Pradhan Nagar Police Station.
All the 21 persons, including 6 women, were taken to Pradhan Nagar Police Station for questioning.
It transpired that three of them from Balurghat namely Lakhan Chowdhry(36) of Haldarpara, Khidirpur; Bishu Das (40) of Shantimay Ghosh Colony; Chandra Das (F/38) of Suknata Colony were conducting a fake recruitment in which they had taken money from 18 gullible youngsters and in this guise were taking them to various places for recruitment purposes. They had come to Siliguri recently but couldn’t escape the watchful eyes of SI Mr. Jagadish Das. A case under proper sections of law have been started and all the accused have been arrested and forwarded to the Ld Court.
Keeping in view the gravity of the matter, CP Siliguri has endorsed the case to DD for further, thorough investigation and also felicitated SI Mr. Jagadish Das for the good work.
It is again advised to all the youngsters that any form of recruitment in the police department is done by West Bengal Police Recruitment Board after following a due, rigorous and meticulous process and with abundant transparency and publicity. Please don’t fall into the trap of any local touts or fraudsters.
