MADURAI: The President’s Police Medal for distinguished service was bagged by Additional Superintendent of Police, Mr. Karthikeyan, (Prohibition and Enforcement Wing) from Madurai district. Mr. Karthikeyan joined as Sub Inspector of police in 1987. He was also the recipient of President’s Police Medal award for meritorious service in 2008. Mr V Veerasamy, Special Sub Inspector (SSI), with Special Branch, Special Branch in Orathanadu police station, Tanjore, has been selected for the Presidential award for meritorious service. Veerasamy joined the police department as Grade II constable in the Madurai Armed Reserve Police on January 17, 1986. He had served at the regular duty in Dindigul for six years. He was posted in SB CID, Thanjavur in 1992. From 2008, he has been serving in the Special Branch in Thanjavur. In 2011 Veerasamy was promoted as SSI.
