Rachakonda CP Mr. Mahesh M Bhagwat IPS has been awarded with prestigious President Police medal for Distinguished service (PPM) for the year 2022 by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India on the occasion of Independence Day. Mr. Devender Singh, Superintendent of Police (NC), Cell Intelligence also achieved the award from Telangana.
Mr. Mahesh M Bhagwat IPS is a 1995 batch IPS officer, Telangana cadre, currently working as Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda Commissionerate since 1st July, 2016. This is the 3rd President of India medal for Mr. Mahesh M Bhagwat IPS. He has achieved two President of India medals earlier, President Police medal for Gallantry (PPMG) award in 2004, and Police Medal for Meritorious Service (IPM) in 2011.
Speaking on the occasion, CP has expressed his happiness over receiving prestigious award and extended his sincere gratitude to all those superiors who believed in him and colleagues of Rachakonda Police Commissionerate and units wherever he worked earlier, who always worked hard and encouraged him for service oriented delivery.
Besides receiving President Medals CP has also achieved many other felicitations and prestigious international awards like ‘International Community Policing award’ and ‘Special Honour in Homeland Security category! at Los Angeles (USA) conference of International Association of Chief of Police (IACP) In 2004, for Community policing project ‘Police Mekosam’ (Police for you) of Naxalite affected Adilabad District.
The Community Policing project in the field of anti-trafficking by name ‘Project Aasara’ of Nalgonda District Police initiated by him. This Project is a winner of “Webber Savvy Law enforcement award & Civil Rights award of International Association of Chief of Police, received at Boston (USA), in 2006.
In 2017, received award of “2017 Trafficking in Persons Report Hero” by the United States department of State’s in recognition of efforts to fight human trafficking in the state of Telangana.
Received recognition of ‘2017 top 100 human trafficking and Slavery influence leaders’ from Canada based “Assent Compliance” organization.
Received award of “2018 IACP Leadership in Human and Civil Rights individual” by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) in recognition of efforts to help migrant Orissa children rescued from Brick Kilns child labor job by starting worksite schools for them. Mr Mahesh Bhagwat IPS has delivered his services to the public at varied postings, as an ASP and Additional SP in Thoubal District Manipur, Superintendent of Police of Adilabad, Nalgonda, Khammam & Kadapa District and Women Protection Cell of CID and DCP of South Zone Hyderabad & Cyberabad City, DIG of Eluru range and PCR Cell, CID, Joint CP Administration and Special Branch in Hyderabad City and DIG ISW in A.P.. (Combined State), IG ISW Telangana.
He has supported many students, especially mentored 1500 plus Civil Services aspirants and helped them in bagging good ranks. They are selected for IAS/IPS/IFS (foreign)/ IFS (Forest) and other services.
CP has also put in his efforts in publications and contributed for 8 books on anti-trafficking published by United Nations (UNODC) in support with Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi and IGNOU, Delhi for anti-trafficking certificate course.
CP has personally expressed his gratitude to Telangana Government Hon’ble CM, HM garu, DGP Sir and other retired and serving senior officers for reposing faith in him and entrusted him for establishing a new commissionerate Rachakonda by supporting him to work continuously.
CP Mr.Mahesh Bhagwat IPS has appreciated ASI SB Chottupal Katragadda Srinivas Rao for his outstanding work in Special branch. He has been awarded with Police medal for meritorious service 2022.
