<![CDATA[CHENNAI: A woman head constable on January 24 narrated her experience of being molested by protestors when the Ice House police station was set ablaze during the protests on January 23. A detailed enquiry was done by a team on the orders of the Chennai Police Commissioner CoP Mr. S George, Police said. According to the woman police constable, she had been standing with five of her colleagues near the barricade in front of the station when nearly 200 men marched towards me. She said, "They hurled stones which left me with injuries to my shoulders. They also grabbed and pushed me around". On Monday, as the protesters ran towards the station and the head constable and her colleagues stood behind the barricade and tried to stop them. But by the time several protesters came among whom many of them touched her inappropriately and kept hurling stones, she said. The woman managed to get hold of a wireless in the dark room and alerted the control room. A police team arrived after some time, chased away the protesters and pulled her out of the burning station after breaking a window. The woman was sobbing and told about the incident to her seniors. Confirming the incident senior Police officers said that they waited for a formal complaint from the constable. This kind of behavior will not be tolerated, they said. An officer said, ‘There is a video footage of the people who charged at her and action will be taken against them".]]>
