Alappuzha: Alappuzha K9 Squad Senior Dog Tarzan, who has completed his term of service, was sent off with full official honors. After completing nine years of service, Tarzan now retired from service. Tarzan joined the Alappuzha squad when he was three months old.
DHQ Deputy Commandant Mr. V. Suresh Babu garlanded Tarzan on behalf of the District Police in a ceremony held at the K9 Squad courtyard of the District Police Headquarters. Tarzan was sent off with a guard of honor by his ‘colleagues’ in the cavalry. Security has been on duty, including that of the Prime Minister. In 2016, he represented Kerala in the national meet held at Mysuru and won a silver medal.
Tarzan’s rest is in a retirement home named ‘Vishranti’ at the Kerala Police Academy in Thrissur. Assistant Commandant Mr. Sudarshanan, Dog Squad in-charge Mr. Georgekutty at the function. Handlers Mr. Sandeep, Mr. Praveen, Mr. Harikumar and Bomb Squad SI Mr. Michael participated.
