Salem: On last 12.1.2020, a 12-year-old girl, daughter of Sukuna and Muthu from Mecheri Police Station Charakam Komban Puttur Pollachi Valavu Checheri area, was sexually harassed by Matiyalagan (57) from the same town when she went to see her friend from her home. They filed a complaint at the Mettur All Women Police Station for the crime of sexual harassment.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered under POCSA Act 2012 and a charge sheet was quickly filed in this case and the case was under investigation in the Salem POCSO Special Court. However, on the basis of the witnesses, the accused Mathiyalagan (57) was found guilty for the crime of sexually harassing a girl. On 30.8.2022 Honorable Judge Mrs. By Jayanthi, sentenced the accused person to undergo seven years imprisonment and a fine of Rs.5000 and ordered to be remanded in prison.
