Chengalpattu: In the year 2015, Mannangatti alias Rajamanickam (70), son of Ellen from the same area, sexually assaulted a mentally retarded 14-year-old girl belonging to Mariyamman Kovil Street, Bonthur village next to Chittamur, Seyyur taluka, Chengalpattu district.
A case was registered in the Melmaruvathur All Women Police Station and he was arrested under the POCSO Act on the complaint filed by the victim girl’s mother. After that, while the investigation continued, in the court hearing today, the convict was sentenced to 29 years of life imprisonment and rigorous imprisonment on three counts and to pay a fine of 40,000 rupees.
