BENGALURU: With just a few hours left for the arrival of AIADM general secretary V K Sasikala in Bengaluru to surrender before the special court to serve her jail sentence at the Parapanna Agrahara jail on the outskirts of Bengaluru city, heavy Police security is already in place around the jail. V K Sasikala , V N Sudhakaran and Ilavarasi are set to serve their sentence here after the Supreme Court restored a trial court order convicting them in an illegal assets case. A heavy contingent of Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) near the jail and security has been increased along Hosur Road between Parappana Agrahara and Attibele toll gate, Police said. Sasikala has been asked to surrender before the special court. The court heard the case on the prison premises and the premises was being cleaned on Tuesday. However it is not clear if Sasikala will surrender in the prison. The atmosphere is expected to be tense due to Karnataka’s border with Tamil Nadu says, Karnataka Police. A senior Police officer told Policenewsplus, “Usually the Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border is considered to be a sensitive area. Even there may not be any tension this time, we are maintaining utmost caution. Sasikala is being imprisoned in Parappana Agrahara jail for the second time. In 2014 she had spent 21 days after she was convicted by the trial court along with Jayalalithaa. Sasikala would have no privileges, unlike Jayalalithaa, and she would be treated like any other convict, the jail authorities say. Mr. Krishna Kumar, Superintendent of Parappana Agrahara jail said, “There are no special arrangements for Sasikala. She will be lodged in a cell like any other inmate of the jail”. ]]>
