Tirunelveli: 486 mobile phones worth 64 lakh 21 thousand 235 rupees which were missing so far have been recovered and handed over to the owners in the Cybercrime Police Station in Tirunelveli district.
Also, on 12.10.2022, 101 cell phones worth Rs.14 lakhs were recovered and kept at the district police office by the District Police Superintendent Mr. P. Saravanan, IPS. These cell phones have been handed over to the rightful owner.
The District Superintendent of Police said that 468 cell phones recovered so far have been handed over to the appropriate persons, and for the complaints of money fraud by receiving OTPs that they were getting jobs through the internet and that prizes had fallen, prompt action was taken to freeze the bank accounts of the fraudsters and 2 lakh 19 thousand 852 rupees were recovered and returned to the affected persons today.
He said that 92 lakh 99 thousand 167 rupees have been frozen in the bank account of the criminals and 10 lakh 68 thousand 129 rupees have been recovered and returned to the bank account of 20 victims.
He also informed the public that in this era, online money transaction is very essential and therefore public should be careful while doing money transaction and not to share the OTP numbers received on the cell phone.
