HYDERABAD: The Telengana Police knocked on the door of Telangana’s Joint Action Committee chairman Mr. Kodandaram at Tarnaka around 4.30 am on Wednesday and told him to cooperate with the police and allow them to arrest him but when the man behind separate Telengana agitation resisted the move Police had to break open the main door of his house and take him into custody. Kodandaram had told Police that he wanted to participate in the proposed Nirudyoga Rally meeting at Indira Park. The rally was planned to be held at Dharna Chowk near Indira Park later in the day to demand jobs for unemployed youth. Police were deployed heavily at Kodandaram’s residence since Tuesday night. East Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. V.Ravinder led a team and took the TJAC chairman into preventive custody at his house in the wee hours, Police said. 30 TJAC leaders who also were in his house at the time were also taken into preventive custody. Police took 447 protesters in to preventive custody for trying to organise a rally. Indira Park, Sundarayya Vignana Kendram and the Nampally criminal courts complex had heavy Police security. Advocates and social organisation leaders were among those detained and taken to the Kamatipura Police station and Goshamahal Stadium. But later all of them, including Kodandaram, were let off by evening, Police said. 221 persons in the central zone, 91 in east zone, 59 in west zone, 56 in south zone and 20 in north zone were detained.
