Mamit : With the ban on transportation of illegal Areca nuts in the State, and armed with the order issued by Mamit District Magistrate u/s 144 CrPC, prohibiting entry and exit of Areca Nuts within Mamit District, in the early morning of 18.12.2022 at 2:30 AM, Mamit Police recovered and seized 13 bags/1040 Kgs of smuggled dry Areca Nuts, illegally being transported by one vehicle (Sumo) at Highway Junction, Darlak. Two accussed persons – Lalmuanpuia (39) s/o Rinliana (L) of Mualpui, Aizawl and Zoramsanga (30) s/o Zakamlova of Bawngkawn, Aizawl were arrested and Mamit Police Station Case u/s 188 IPC has been registered. The Mamit District Police team was appreciated for the good work. The police appealed to the general public earnestly to immediately inform police in case of any information regarding illegal transportation of smuggled areca nuts.
