Bhopal: Under the guidance of Additional Director General of Police Mr. Yogesh Deshmukh, the Madhya Pradesh State Cyber Police has not only blocked more than eight thousand suspected SIMs by taking continuous effective action against cyber criminals, but also those who were negligent in blocking suspected SIMs. Strong evidence was provided to the Telecom Department against the Telecom Company, due to which a fine of Rs.1,83,000/- was imposed on the Telecom Company. Earlier in the same episode, in March 2022, Cyber Police Zone-Gwalior had succeeded in blocking 7,948 suspicious mobile numbers of a telecom company through in-depth technical analysis and continuous efforts.
Giving information in this regard Mr. Deshmukh, Additional Director General of Police said that in the year 2020, State Cyber Zone Gwalior had received a fraud complaint of Rs. Fake SIM and fake Paytm accounts issued from Shivpuri and Guna district were found to be being used. Under the leadership of Mr. Sudhir Agarwal, Superintendent of Police, Cyber Zone, Gwalior, a team of Inspector Dinesh Kumar Gupta, Mr. Anil Sharma etc. conducted a thorough and meticulous investigation of the case and took legal action against eight accused involved in issuing fake SIMs and creating fake Paytm accounts. But along with this, by analyzing the data received in the case, more than 20,000 suspicious mobile numbers were also identified and their list was sent to the concerned service providers for verification. In March 2022, 7 thousand 948 SIMs of a telecom company were blocked. Later the same company blocked 239 other SIMs. But in the re-verification by the second telecom company, no action was taken stating that all the SIMs were found correct. On this, information was sent to DG Telecom along with the available evidence by the State Cyber Police.
After this, the SIMs were re-examined by the Telecom Officer, after which, apart from blocking 583 SIMs, a fine of Rs.1,83,000/- has also been imposed on the concerned Telecom Company.
In this way, through intensive research and continuous action in a single case, a total of 8,772 suspected SIMOs were blocked and innumerable cyber crimes were successfully stopped. On the other hand, due to the imposition of penalty on the telecom company for deliberately not blocking suspicious SIMO, now these companies will be bound to discharge their social and legal responsibility.
