On May 03, an avalanche occurred near Kuber Gadhere, which is a section of the pilgrimage route leading to the revered Shri Kedarnath Dham. This caused the pedestrian route to be closed, making it impossible for people to travel through this area.
In response to this incident, the local administration, along with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the Public Works Department (PWD), sprang into action to clear the path and make it safe for pedestrian travel. Their efforts have been tireless, with everyone working on a war footing to ensure that the path is open to the public as soon as possible.
As of now, only pedestrians are allowed to travel through this area, and horse-mules and sandbags are prohibited due to safety concerns. However, the work to fully open the path is ongoing and progressing smoothly.
The authorities are taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety of the pilgrims and to prevent any untoward incidents. They are constantly monitoring the situation and will take appropriate steps to ensure the smooth flow of traffic on this important pilgrimage route. Despite the temporary inconvenience caused by the avalanche, the authorities are committed to making the journey to Shri Kedarnath Dham as safe and comfortable as possible for the pilgrims.
