Darjeeling: In the Jorebungalow Police Station area of Darjeeling, a distressing incident unfolded as a minor girl became a victim of sexual abuse. However, thanks to the exceptional investigative skills and unwavering dedication of Sub-Inspector (SI) Bandana Pradhan and SI Mitra Dewan, justice prevailed. Their meticulous efforts led to an accurate investigation, leaving no stone unturned.
As a result of their relentless pursuit of truth, the accused in the case was convicted and handed a significant sentence of 20 years in prison, a reflection of the severity of their crime. Additionally, they were also required to pay a substantial fine as part of their punishment.
Recognizing the profound impact of such a traumatic experience on the young victim’s life, the judicial system has taken steps to provide support and redress. Consequently, the victim has been awarded a compensation amounting to Rs. 4 lakhs, aiming to assist in her healing process and alleviate some of the hardships she may have endured.
It is commendable that SI Bandana Pradhan and SI Mitra Dewan exhibited exceptional professionalism, commitment, and empathy throughout the investigation, ensuring that justice was served and the victim’s rights were safeguarded.
