Dindigul: During their routine patrol in the Kanniwadi Forest Office located in the Sembatti Division, specifically in the Sitthyankottai Beed area of Chakmalai Village, Bullavella, a group of dedicated individuals comprising Forest Officer Arumugam, Vanawar Vijahagan, Forest Guards Thilakaraj, Ramkumar, Periyasamy, Peter Raja, Murugan, and Anti-Poaching Constables encountered a distressing incident involving the poaching of a male deer in the WL OR – 07/2023 region.
Recognizing the gravity of the situation, they promptly registered a wildlife crime report, initiating swift action. As a result, three individuals by the names of Jyothilingam, Ranjith, and Madankumar hailing from Manalur village were apprehended in connection with the poaching incident. Law enforcement efforts proved fruitful, leading to the seizure of five guns from the possession of the arrested individuals. In order to ensure legal proceedings, the accused were presented before the Athur Criminal Magistrate, who subsequently remanded them in Palani Jail for a duration of 15 days.
Simultaneously, the forest department launched an intensive search operation to track down and apprehend the remaining four criminals who had managed to evade capture thus far. The department’s tireless efforts were focused on bringing all those involved in the unlawful act to justice and curbing such wildlife-related offenses in the future.
