Kakinada: In the district of Kakinada, specifically in Annavaram, a renowned hotel notorious for its gambling operations fell victim to a meticulously planned raid, leading to the apprehension of 10 individuals and the confiscation of a significant sum of Rs.1,16,450/-. The diligent Superintendent of Police (SP) for Kakinada District, Sri S. Satish Kumar, IPS, received credible intelligence on the evening of May 24th, 2023, regarding an ongoing gambling activity at a prominent hotel situated in Annavaram.
Reacting promptly to this vital information, the astute SP expeditiously dispatched instructions to the vigilant Sub-Inspector (SI) of Annavaram, commanding an immediate and forceful response to the illicit gathering. Complying with the orders imparted by the District SP, the dedicated SI spearheaded a meticulously planned raid on the aforementioned hotel, where both the staff and patrons were engrossed in unlawful gambling pursuits. As a result, a total of 9 individuals engaged in gambling within a hotel room, including the manager of the establishment, were swiftly apprehended.
The raid not only culminated in the detainment of the gambling participants but also yielded a substantial amount of Rs.1,16,450/-, seized from the individuals present. Concurrently, the authorities diligently confiscated both cash and various gambling paraphernalia used in the illicit activities. In light of the egregious nature of the offense, a comprehensive case was registered against the individuals responsible for orchestrating the illicit gambling event, as well as the hotel proprietor who negligently permitted such unlawful practices to transpire within the premises.
