Kozhikode City: Mohammad Shanid OA, aged 30 and son of Abdul Rahiman, was apprehended for his involvement in a burglary that took place at ‘Kozhikotan’s’ bakery in Eranjipalat, Kozhikode. The accused, hailing from Olathiri House in Vidyanagar, Kasaragod, broke into the bakery by forcibly opening the door. Once inside, he proceeded to break the lock of a cupboard and absconded with a sum of Rs.14,000 in cash as well as a Vivo mobile phone.
The arrest of Mohammad Shanid OA was executed under the competent leadership of KG Jijeesh. It was discovered that on the night of June 20, he entered a locked shop, and subsequently, he traveled to Kasargod. After selling the stolen mobile phone at a shop in Mangalore, the accused returned to Kasargod, presuming that the police were not actively pursuing him.
The case came to the attention of the authorities following a complaint lodged at the Nadakavu police station, reporting the break-in and theft of valuable items. Investigators learned that the accused specifically chose to target this particular shop to obtain funds for his drug habit. During his interrogation, Mohammad Shanid OA revealed that he had identified this shop as his intended target while previously employed at various hotels in Kozhikode.
The identification of the suspect as the perpetrator of the theft was made possible with the assistance of the cyber cell. Upon eluding the police and arriving in Kasargod, the suspect was eventually apprehended by the local police force. Following his arrest, he was produced in court, where he was remanded into custody. Currently, Mohammad Shanid OA is incarcerated at Kozhikode District Jail.
The investigation team comprised sub-inspectors Binu Mohan, Babu Pudussery, N. Leela, ASI Hasees, as well as senior civil police officers M.V. Srikanth, Ragesh, Rajesh, Nijin, Rajesh, and Sarath.
