The Special Judge, CBI cases, Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), has pronounced a verdict of guilt against S/Sh. Satya Pal Sharma (Lt Colonel), who was the then Commander Works Engineer (CWE) at Military Engineering Services (MES), Allahabad/(Colonel Admn, Command Station, Srinagar); Y. K. UppaI, who served as Garrison Engineer (West), Allahabad; K.S. Saini (Lt Colonel), the former Garrison Engineer (West), Allahabad; Virendra Kumar Jain, the former Garrison Engineer (East), Allahabad; S.S. Thakkar (Major), the former Garrison Engineer (Air Force), Bamrauli, Allahabad; and Ashok Kumar Deora, Anil Kumar Deora, Pawan Kumar Deora, who were all Proprietors/Partners of different fictitious firms. The court has sentenced them to three years of imprisonment.
The case was registered by the CBI against Lt. Colonel S.P. Sharma, then Commander Works Engineer (CWE) at Military Engineering Services (MES), Allahabad, and other officials working under CWE, Allahabad, along with Proprietors/Partners of various fictitious private firms. The allegations revolve around the misuse of local purchases, amounting to approximately Rs.3.82 Crore, at exorbitant rates, violating prescribed guidelines during the period November 1983 to November 1985.
Following a thorough investigation, a charge sheet was filed against the accused in the Competent Court.
The Trial Court has now found the accused individuals guilty and sentenced them accordingly.
