West Godavari: Today, the DSP Office in Narsapuram, West Godavari District, was inaugurated by DGP Shri K.V Rajendranath Reddy IPS. The construction of the office cost Rs. 1.2 crore. During the event, the DGP provided an overview, mentioning that in the previous year, 104 significant cases were identified, resulting in 3 death sentences, 37 life imprisonments, and imprisonments ranging from 7 to 20 years in 62 cases through conviction-based policing.
Efforts were concentrated on cases involving crimes against women, POCSO, and other serious offenses, with pilot projects detecting such cases and investigations conducted with top priority. In the ongoing year, each police officer has been assigned 10 cases for conviction-based policing, resulting in the successful resolution of 1000 cases out of 14000 cases.
The objective is to expedite the investigation process and achieve conviction within 3 months for severe criminal cases through fast track procedures. The establishment of Cyber Cells in all districts, consisting of 133 personnel, aims to combat cybercrimes. Additionally, Cyber Cell and Social Media Monitoring Cell have commenced their operations at Mangalagiri Police Headquarters under the guidance of a senior officer.
To address financial fraud, the 1930 App has been introduced to facilitate timely money recovery, and the public is encouraged to utilize this service. Notably, the state has experienced a 20% reduction in the crime rate compared to the previous year. Extensive measures and initiatives have been undertaken to eliminate cannabis cultivation and transportation, leading to the destruction of cannabis across 7500 acres in 2021 and 1000 acres in 2022.
The Disha App has garnered over 1.4 crore downloads, aiding in the rescue of more than 27,000 distressed women and resulting in the registration of over 2,000 FIRs based on complaints received through the Disha SOS feature.
