Raipur: A significant law enforcement operation resulted in the confiscation of a notable quantity of contraband items. Specifically, a total of 38 bottles of English liquor, along with 31 bottles of beer and 06 pauvas of English liquor, were clandestinely stored. These items were discovered in conjunction with the apprehension of a suspect who was allegedly involved in the unlawful possession and distribution of these alcoholic beverages.
Additionally, during the operation, a crucial piece of evidence was uncovered—an automobile primarily employed for the transportation of the aforementioned liquor. This four-wheeler, bearing the registration CG 04 PC 7684, was suspected to have been an integral part of the illegal liquor distribution network in the Jumla area.
The cumulative value of the seized contraband and the associated vehicle is estimated to be approximately Rs.9,00,000/-. This substantial value underscores the magnitude of the operation and the potential economic impact of such illicit activities.
Subsequent to these discoveries, prompt legal actions were taken. A formal criminal case (registered as Crime number 506/23) was initiated against the accused perpetrator. This legal action was conducted under the purview of Section 34(2) of the Excise Act, a relevant legislation governing the regulation and control of alcoholic substances.
The incident transpired in the jurisdiction of the Hasaud police station, which serves as the focal point for the investigation and subsequent legal proceedings. The comprehensive efforts of law enforcement not only led to the dismantling of an alleged illicit alcohol distribution network but also underscored the commitment to upholding the pertinent laws and regulations pertaining to excise and public safety.
