Trichy : As instructed by Tamil Nadu DGP Mr C.P.Shankar Jiwal, Trichy City Police Commissioner Ms. N.Kamini, conducted a special operation against gutka, tobacco, hans, coolip, in box shops, tea shops and cool drinks shops (especially near schools and colleges) in Trichy city. With the help of Food Safety Department and Health Department officials, a special operation was conducted to check the sale of narcotic substances like Vimalpan Masala. Accordingly, with the help of Food Safety Department and Health Department officials throughout Trichy city, special checks were conducted in box stores, tea shops and cool drinks shops near schools, colleges and public places to see if drugs such as gutka, tobacco, hans, coolip, vimalban masala are being sold to the youth.
During this investigation, when a car with registration number TN 23 AW 3003 parked suspiciously on the Lower Boulevard Road under the Gandhi Market Police Station was found to be in possession of tobacco, RMD Panmasala Vimal, Coolip worth around Rs.72,600 in the car. A case was registered against the owner of the car Ramkumar from Lalgudi after confiscating the cell phone and the car and the police arrested him. In addition, in another area, prohibited tobacco items weighing around 70 kg were seized. The total value of these is around Rs.1, 00,000. At the end of the raid, more than 36 people were booked and the top officials were with them during the raid.
