Madurai: On the orders of Madurai District Superintendent of Police, Mr.R.Sivaprasad, IPS, lost mobile phone reported in police stations in Madurai District have been returned. In the related complaints, 100 mobile phones worth Rs.16,65,200/- have been found by the Madurai District Cybercrime Police Station in the last two months and Madurai District Superintendent of Police Mr. Sivaprasad, IPS., issued to the concerned persons on 11.10.2023.
The Cybercrime Police Station in Rai District was started on 01.03.2021 and is functioning well under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police Mr. Karupaiah. So far 1207 mobile phones worth Rs.1,75,07,600/- have been recovered and handed over to the concerned persons due to the prompt action of the Madurai District Superintendent of Police. Also, due to the quick action of the Madurai District Superintendent of Police in the case of money extortion scams by knowing the bank account details of the public claiming to be speaking from the banks, steps have been taken to get back Rs.4,47,500/- in the last two months to Rs.48,76,305/-.
In this manner, be aware of scammers claiming to be from the bank, don’t get scammed by giving details like bank account number, CVV and OTP to unknown people, and don’t get scammed by investment apps that promise double money, advance money that promises online employment, and more for less original. Don’t get cheated by getting money from online loan apps that charge interest, don’t attend video calls from unknown people, don’t click on links to update bank account details, don’t download remote access apps like Anydesk, teamviewer etc. Madurai District Superintendent of Police has requested the public that if anyone loses money in the above manner, they can report to Cyber Crime Helpline 1930 toll-free number and website https://www.cybercrime.gov.in 24 hours a day.
