Madurai: In the vicinity of Madurai, specifically near Sholavandan, there is a deputy in the Vikramangalam Panchayat Council. The current leader, Mr. Selvam, owns a pen shop near Karupupovil. He often tends to work at a temple close to Vikramangalam. During this time, he struck up a friendship with a woman who became a regular customer at his shop for over three days.
This familiarity led Mr. Selvam to trust her, allowing her unrestricted access to his shop. On the day of the incident, the woman noticed jewelry and cash in the shop. It is reported that Selvam momentarily left to attend to something on the other side of the shop, and during this time, the woman allegedly absconded with approximately 9 lakh rupees.
In response to this, Selvam filed a complaint with the Vikramangalam Police, reporting the theft of the nine lakh rupees from his shop. Sub-Inspector Murugesan has officially recorded the case and is currently conducting an investigation.
Additionally, utilizing the eye-tracking camera near the shop, authorities are striving to identify the woman responsible for the theft. A special police unit has been deployed in search of this mysterious woman. The police are also reviewing the CCTV footage from the Canara Bank ATM situated close to the shop. The incident of the 9 lakh rupee theft from the shop of the Panchayat Vice Chairman in the Vikramangalam area has stirred significant commotion in the locality.
