Chandigarh: The Cycle Safety Squad of Chandigarh Traffic Police is actively engaged in an ongoing awareness campaign to guide and educate cyclists, as well as Rehri/Rickshaw pullers, about the importance of consistently using the designated cycle tracks on roads for their own safety. Recently, an awareness drive was conducted at the pelican light near Lake, Matka Chowk, and Press Light Point in Chandigarh. They are also being instructed on safe road crossing practices at intersections, roundabouts, and slip roads, utilizing the dedicated red-colored Cycle Path provided at these locations.
Additionally, they are advised to cross the road only when the Green Signal is displayed, and to halt at the Red signal from the automatic Traffic Control Signal Lights (ATCS Lights) to enhance their visibility to motor vehicles and prevent collisions, especially during nighttime. To further enhance their visibility, reflective tape is being affixed on bicycles, Rehri, and Rickshaws by the Chandigarh Traffic Police Cycle Safety Squad.
