Gwalior: In Gwalior, an individual filed a complaint with Superintendent of Police Mr. Rajesh Singh Chandel, alleging that an unidentified person was tarnishing their reputation by spreading a personal and objectionable video via WhatsApp. Taking the complaint seriously, the Superintendent of Police instructed Additional Superintendent of Police City (East/Crime) Mr. Hrishikesh Meena to address the matter through the Cyber Crime Wing of the Crime Branch. Following the directives of senior officers and under the guidance of DSP Crime Mr. Shiaz.K.M and DSP Crime II Mr. Nagendra Singh Sikarwar, the Cyber Crime Wing, led by Police Station Incharge Crime Inspector Amar Singh Sikarwar, took action on the complaint. The reported crime was officially registered at the police station crime branch and subjected to investigation.
The Cyber Crime team obtained technical information from Meta Company regarding the mobile numbers mentioned in the complaint and those registered on WhatsApp. Through the analysis of this technical data, a female suspect was identified. Upon apprehending and questioning the female suspect, it was revealed that she was a relative of the complainant’s uncle. The accused admitted to deliberately making the video viral as a result of personal disputes and family conflicts with the aim of defaming the complainant.
The Cyber Crime Wing is currently examining the accused’s mobile phone to determine the extent of the video’s dissemination on various social media platforms and to identify the recipients. The public is advised against sharing highly personal photos and videos with unknown individuals. Those with sensitive content on their mobile devices are encouraged to secure it with robust password protection.
