Hyderabad: On December 13, 2023, Mr. Kothakota Sreenivasa Reddy IPS assumed the role of the new Commissioner of Police for Hyderabad city. During a media address, CP Hyderabad expressed gratitude to the honorable Chief Minister of Telangana, Sri A. Revanth Reddy, for providing him with this opportunity. He outlined three primary objectives for the Hyderabad city Police:
To transform Hyderabad into a drug-free city, collaborative efforts will be undertaken with the Commissioners of Cyberabad and Rachakonda. A stern warning was issued to all drug gangs, emphasizing strict consequences. Notably, a meeting with the senior members of the cinema industry will be convened to address concerns about drug consumption. Awareness campaigns will target pubs, restaurants, and farmhouses in the city.
Enhancing the quick response team’s capabilities in handling undesirable incidents using the latest technology is a key focus. Basic policing strategies will also be refined to achieve this goal effectively.
Strengthening She teams to ensure the safety of women and taking strict action against harassment, eve-teasing, and ragging is a priority.
CP Hyderabad emphasized that while friendly policing has been criticized, the approach remains reserved for law-abiding citizens. Strict measures will be taken against those who violate the law. He urged the media to serve as a bridge between citizens and the police, acting as the voice of the people.
